2020/3/25Comment on the policy of holding the Games in relation with the postponement of the Tokyo 2020 Olympic and Paralympic Games

There has been an announcement made last night, which the Tokyo 2020 Olympic and Paralympic Games would be rescheduled to date beyond 2020 but not later than summer 2021.

The World Masters Games 2021 Kansai Organising Committee continues to prepare for the Games as if it will be held with the original schedule from May 14, 2021. With the postponement of the Tokyo 2020 Olympic and Paralympic Games, the World Masters Games will be held in the same year, therefore we will make sure that the influence is well assessed by cooperation among relevant organisations and Sports Federations, etc.

The policy of holding the Games will be considered under the full consultation and consideration with the International Masters Games Association (IMGA) and Sports Federations, etc., since the Games are scheduled to be held next May.

We sincerely appreciate your understanding, from our dearest participants and many other stakeholders.

Finally, we hope that this unprecedented crisis of the coronavirus will come to an end as soon as possible.
