Sport Overview

Postponement has been decided for the World Masters Games 2021 Kansai.
The new dates are being arranged.
Please note that the followings are the information before the postponement was confirmed.



A player wins a game by getting 11 points first (however, when the score is 10–10, the game continues until there is a two-point difference). All of singles matches, doubles matches, and team competitions are played in a best-of-five format.

[Competition level]
A: Advanced athletes (top athletes who participate in international, national and local competitions)
B: Beginners (playing for hobby and exchange)

[Age・Gender Category]
・The age of the youngest athlete in the team will determine the age category for both the team match and doubles.
・An athlete (team) may enter a younger age category than that of his/her own.
・Grades and age categories may bind depending on how many athletes register. Provided, however, medals will be awarded by each grade and age category.

Eligibility

Japanese nationals with impairments who wish to participate must compete any one of the following procedures during registration.
(1) Athletes who wish to participate “Standing (Upper extremity impairment)” “Standing (Lower extremity impairment)” and “Wheelchair”, must attach a PDF file of a photo copy of physical disability certificate and bring original certificate on the competition day.
(2) Athletes who wish to participate “Intellectual impairment” must attach a PDF file of their photo copy of medical rehabilitation handbook and bring original handbook on the competition day.

Overseas national with impairments who wish to participate must complete any one the following procedures during registration.
Athletes who wish to participate “Standing (Upper extremity impairment)” “Standing (Lower extremity impairment)” and “Wheelchair”, must attach a PDF file of a photo copy of a certificate which shows their impairments or a medical certificate written by physicians (English-only) and bring original certificate on the competition day.
* In the case, athletes register the para-category which does not apply to the category they declare, the organizer may not allow their participation.

Age Requirement

Minimum age is 30 (born on or before 31st December 1992)
In line with the sport-specific rules, an athlete must compete in their designated age group, with your age determined as at 31st December 2022.
For example, if you are 39 during Games time but have turned 40 by 31st December 2022, you would compete in the 40+ age category.
