Gateball

Gateball

Sport Overview

Postponement has been decided for the World Masters Games 2021 Kansai.
The new dates are being arranged.
Please note that the followings are the information before the postponement was confirmed.

Gateball is played between teams of five players, and a match lasts for 30 minutes. Members from both teams take turns to hit their own balls, and the objective is to score more points than the opponent by hitting balls through three gates in the court in a specific order and then hitting the goal pole (one point for hitting a ball through a gate, two points for hitting the goal pole).
Gateball is a highly strategic team sport that was developed in Japan. Players not only aim to hit balls through the gates but also use other techniques such as the “touch”, which involves hitting a ball at another one, and the “spark”, which involves moving a touched ball, to score more points by combining various balls.
